A gesture of Confidence |
The question here is, is it really fair for Jeff Goodel to say that Steve Jobs is a megalomaniac? It is not. Steve Jobs is not a megalomaniac as many authors claimed. Other than Mr. Goodel, Steven Johnson is one of the writer that claimed Steve Jobs is a megalomaniac in his book called 'Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of Innovation'.
Quoted by a famous psychologist, Ariane Benefit, megalomaniac is not at all a proper way of describing Steve Jobs. This calling names phenomenon of Jobs among writers should stop as Jobs acted the way he is because he was a gifted man. This innovative man had a very high intensity of energy drive, compassion and frustration which are the characteristics of a person having extraordinary level of intelligence and empathy.
Jobs is, according to Benefit, is very lucky as he had Apple Company for a channel for his intensities outlets. However, he had to pay a very high price for that. He was claimed by Goodel as a person with unapologetic brutality. His workers or colleagues admitted that they were being tortured by Jobs emotionally and mentally as Jobs demanded perfection and originality in every detail.
Steve Jobs is actually is a very admirable person as he did not let the people around him to hold him back from generating his creative ideas. To challenge the status quo, Jobs have the high intensity to do what people say cannot be done. As people sees his creative ideas, they will see it as an absurdity. People are trying to suppress his thoughts as most people will do when they see thoughts that are too idealistic.
