All the Cool Kids are Quitting Facebook

This excerpt by Jenna Wortham is about a social network called Facebook. Which she wrote about the reasons Facebook is being left out by many of the American citizens. This writing is mainly targeted for young people and of course people who uses Facebook will be interested in reading this article.
She quoted from a man named Mr. Balcomb, a pre-med student in Oregon saying that he met a woman, in a lift and he knew every details on her but never say anything to each other in real life. He feels that, from the particular incident, Facebook is unhealthy, hence, he left it. There are a lot of cases like this happening, not just to Mr. Balcomb, but the citizen of the whole wide world that uses the particular social network.

However, according to Ashleigh Elser, seeing her friends' pictures on Facebook that she had long not be in contact to, made she feels like she is connecting them. This is suited with what Jonathan Thaw, a Facebook spokesman said, “Our goal is to offer people a meaningful, fun and free way to connect with their friends, and we hope that’s appealing to a broad audience,”. 'Friends here might bring the meaning of old friends, not friends that we want to get to know. Then, it will bring benefit to the users like Elser and not ended up like Mr. Balcomb. This, somehow bring an answer to why every time users wanted to approve friends, a box saying did you know this person will pop up. It is to prevent from unhealthy outcomes such as Mr. Balcomb's occur.

Jenna Wortham writes this article to make people realize that Facebook is an unhealthy way to meet people. To make friends. She is trying to make people see that it is not relevant to post everything about your life on Facebook as the privacy is not guaranteed.
